THE LIFE OF GAB - Barb Grupido
Faith is taking the first step when you can't see the stairwell. Starting GAB Social Solutions wasn't quite a blind step for me, after working as an entrepreneur for over 30 years I could see the wall at least. In 1984 I opened my first business, Busy Bee House Cleaning. After growing it from a single person to a nine-person cleaning service and into a profitable small business I sold my share to my business partner to commit myself to raise my family. Having six kids takes a lot of work and organizational skills, but I guess that wasn't enough for me!
After my fifth child was born I opened my second business in 1994, Wheat's Wear Embroidery. By 2000 Wheat's Wear Embroidery had grown and changed names to Wheat's Wear School Uniforms, with my second business name, One Stop Shop Embroidery & Screen Printing and my third Scrub Up Medical Scrubs & Supplies. All with the help of my own marketing and sales strategies and my first ever website services.
Tragedy struck in January of 2006 when I was diagnosed with Lupus and began chemotherapy. I kept my small-businesses open and running for four more years, then at the insistence of my doctor, I closed up shop. Having leftover product from the store though, I set up my own home online shop to clear out the inventory. My own strategies had to grow as the technology we used evolved. The days of fliers and ads at the movie theater were flying by. If I wanted to get people to stop by my new online shop, I needed to evolve with the times.
You see the steps here are made of the ever-changing landscape of social media. So, I grabbed the railing, looked at the wall I had already built from years of running and marketing my own small-businesses and started to climb the stairs of social media and website building. I had faith that while I may not be able to do the work I once did thanks to my illness, I could make social media work for me. So I've been learning and growing my strategies as the world around us does ever since. Follow Barb Grupido's steps and have faith that GAB Social Solutions will help you make it to the top of your own proverbial staircase.
I have been so busy that I have not had a chance to blog in awhile. I have a brand new website that just went live. I always get so excited and I hope it goes well for my new clients. The site was up for two hours and received their first two orders. That is a exciting news for any business owner.
Believe it or not, I don’t drink coffee. I am anaphylaxis to coffee, but I do love the smell!
How do you recharge your energy?
Stretching for me is a stress reliever. You can help recharge by stretching your muscles for just five minutes every few days. Stretch your mind while you’re at it!
Aromatherapy is a mood changer!
Recharge mentally, When it comes to recharging your personal battery, it’s important to pay attention to your mind. Thinking about the things that stress us out often makes it harder to recharge.
Do something fun! Having fun is an important part of staying mentally healthy. I have hobbies that I love to do and grandchildren to spend time with.
Take a break, Walk away, you will feel better in back in tune to complete your work!
How much water do you drink each day? I drink 96 to 120 fluid ounces a day. Yup, you read right. I crave it!
How many times do you reach the end of the day only to realize you never drank a sip of water?
Many of us get by with coffee, food, and sugar-sweetened beverages when our bodies really need WATER.
Grab a water bottle, add ice and keep it with you. Rule of thumb is to drink half your body weight in ounces but if that is too big of a jump, add 1 cup extra (that’s a total of 8 ounces) today and see how you feel. You can drink to much water, I know this because I ended up in the hospital not once but twice for drinking to much water.
This is my favorite container you can order here in your favorite color – https://qoo.ly/33yupu (I don’t receive a kickback)

December was a rough month – I fell off the organized wagon because of illness. Don’t you panic when that happens? Well, I can tell that panic was in full swing besides it being the busy holidays.

Let’s be honest. It is really hard to be motivated to do anything on Monday Morning!
We have the whole weekend to enjoy and as Sunday night starts to fade away we realize we are one step closer to the start of our week.
And for some reason, Mondays are the hardest day of the week to get through, probably because we have two days to just relax and not focus on anything.
Tip 1: Prepare for Monday on Friday
Start by preparing on Friday for your Monday, by planning ahead and organizing everything.
I use Trello to organize my whole world. It’s free! What is your favorite go-to organizing app?
This little guy has stolen my heart.

Meet Bearett! 7 weeks old and loves sitting on my feet while I work. It can be so distracting to get in some much-needed cuddles.

This month focus on all the little things you needed to do in December that you procrastinated on. This was the focus of my day today. –

In other words, if you want to grow you better be ready to get comfortable with the uncomfortable.

Whatever the goal, whether it’s to be, adventurous, new business, loving, vulnerable, financially stable – it requires a “YES,” a shift in our mind shift to break down old habits and outdated ways of thinking.
